Tutorial for making realistic guts and intestines
In this tutorial we are going to make realistic guts and intestines out of easy to find materials. Use this in your next gory video, Halloween prop, or prank someone with these bloody entrails!

Materials and Tools:
Liquid latex (here’s the best deal I’ve found)
Smooth, leveled and flat surface
Paper towels, cotton balls, cushion polyfill
Paint a strip of liquid latex on your smooth surface, the length and with depends the size you want your guts. For human looking intestines make the strip about 4-5 inches and as long as you want.
Carefully fray a long piece of yarn so that it looks like many blood capillaries connecting to a main artery (see pic or video). Gently lay this over the, still wet, strip of liquid latex. Let latex dry, or use a hair dryer to speed up the process.
Add another layer of latex and make sure any yarn that is sticking up lays down flat. Let dry. Repeat this process at least 3 more times, letting dry completely between layers.
Roll some crumpled paper towels or cotton/polyfill into the shape of a sausage. Carefully paint this roll with pink and red acrylic paint. You can mix a bit of liquid latex with the paint to make it more flexible and bouncy. With the paint still wet, sprinkle some coffee grounds on your innards…like little blood clots.
Take a clean brush and generously dust the strip of latex with the talcum powder. Feel the latex and it shouldn’t be sticky or tacky. Blow excess powder.
Slowly start peeling the strip of latex from the smooth surface. Brush talcum powder generously as you peel the strip making sure to completely cover the underside with powder. Once peeled, you should have a nice “sheet” of very elastic, but not sticky latex. This will be the “skin” of your guts.
Dab some pink and red paint, coffee grounds and fake blood on the top side of your latex skin. Make sure the yarn is on the opposite side of your strip.
Carefully lay your paper towel/cotton/polyfill guts on top of the latex skin. Sprinkle and dab some more blood and coffee until you get the desired effect.
Using liquid latex, apply a thin strip along one edge of your skin. Fold other end over the “filling” like a burrito and connect the two edges. Hold for a few seconds until latex dries. Continue this process until the whole intestine is closed. Be as uneven as possible so it resembles real guts…our guts are not perfectly tubular!
Depending on your use for these guts apply fake (non-drying) blood to the outside (for a video for example or for a Halloween prop). If your are going to be touching the intestines and don’t want to get stained by the blood, just use a blood formula that dries (here’s my drying glue blood formula).
Taaaadaaaahhh! There you go! Incredibly easy and realistic guts! What are you going to do with them? Share with me here.
